Is the First Look right for you?
-I get asked this all the time and my personal preference is to do the First Look for many reasons. 1. You will be able to get all the pictures done before the wedding while your make up and hair is fresh. Not to mention you want be so rushed and can get more photos. When you are rushed, there’s a huge chance that it will show in your pictures. 2. You get a “real” reaction from the groom. Some grooms say they feel like they have to “put on a show” or “act a certain way” or “cry” if they wait. I feel that this tends to take that pressure off of the groom. Plus, you get to spend that moment alone and actually talk and cry and be yourselves. You can take time to be with each other and not be so rushed. This allows you to have some one on one time that you probably want get for the rest of the day. 3. You are guaranteed to get the reaction itself caught on camera. 4. It helps calm your nerves and butterflies some before the ceremony. 5. You will actually get to spend some real time with your guest during cocktail hour or you can eliminate it altogether and go straight into reception. This is a great way to also save some money too. -You can also do a First Look with more than just the groom. I have had couples do a First Look with their mom, dad, step parents or both, grandparents, and even the bridal party. But I wouldn’t get to carried away with having to many First Looks because this can eat up a lot of time and if you are a fall couple then this can really eat up a lot of time and have you getting ready at 5:00 am, lol!! -Make sure you tell your planner, photographer and videographer who all you want to do a First Look with so they can properly time it all out and have everyone set and in location in a timely manner. This will help avoid any delays in the day’s timeline.
