-DIY is tempting for some because of Pinterest and YouTube. But let’s be honest, we are not all as creative as we like to think we are. I strongly discourage brides from doing this. While we are being honest, there is no fake flower that looks and smells like a real flower. This isn’t a birthday party, this is the time to let the professionals do the job.
-However, if you are set on DIY then my biggest piece of advice is do not wait a month out from your wedding to try and make all of your decor. You may quickly find out that it isn’t as easy as it looks. I would suggest making a bouquet or centerpiece and seeing if you even like it. Think of all of the time you spend shopping, driving to and from the store, creating it, the gas and wear and tear that it takes on your vehicle it takes to go back and forth. Then, that’s right, you’re not done yet, you still have to pack it all up, take it to the venue, unload it and set it all up. And, at the end of the night, you have to pack it all back up and take it home. Who knows what you will do with it afterwards? This is a lot of added stress on top of the actual planning of your wedding. And let’s be honest, time is money. Keep in mind there is a lot of cost in the vases too. Vases are not cheap and can add up quickly. I would just say do your homework and price out a few florist before trying to tackle it on your own. You might be pleasantly surprised. It is very time consuming when you think of all of the money you spent to be unhappy with the finished product. -Hobby Lobby & Michaels run specials all the time and make you think that you can save a ton of money by DIY but the truth is, a professional isn’t that much more expensive (if any) than DIY. One other tip is, if you have them specially order for you, in bulk, then you only have the 30 days to return it instead of 90 days. Now, this could have changed since I wrote this so double check.
